Sister, Sister
A flash fiction tale about a young boy, his doll, and his imagination.
Anderson Bailey was a young boy from Galena, Illinois, a quiet and quaint town northwest of Chicago.
Around six or seven years old, Anderson began playing with an imaginary friend named, “Miley.”
Anderson always wanted a little sister. Someone to tease and protect. But also someone to blame when Anderson got in trouble, which was a regular occurrence in Galena.
Anderson’s parents thought their son’s imaginary friend, “Miley,” might’ve been the work of his young imagination at work. A cure for boredom. Townspeople started to get curious about Anderson’s imaginary friend.
Gossip spread across the town.
Miss Lilly, owner of Galena Antiques and Oddities, felt sorry for Anderson. She had special insight into what troubled Anderson. He was lonely. So, Miss Lilly gave Anderson and old porcelain doll to some much needed rest.
Anderson always wanted a little sister.
What he got was a doll who wanted a little boy to control.
